Resolve.

I realized I never shared my New Year's Resolutions. Not that I really ever do New Year's Resolutions. Although I think they are a good idea, I think I tend to aim a bit high. Like hiking mountains in different countries and things like that.

If I've learned anything in my short life, it is that life throws you curve balls. So, perhaps it is a better idea to create a list of reasonable resolutions that I actually have a chance to accomplish. Baby steps, you know?

So, here it goes. The List. For 2010. In no particular order.

1) Have a second child (we're well on our way with that one).
2) Have the baby weight from second child lost within five months through reasonable eating and such. Nothing crazy. I refuse to come upon that baby's first birthday still carrying "the baby weight". I lost the weight with Cub easily, but I know the second will be tougher, hence I am giving myself a strict goal. I love food and I love to eat.
3) Host a Mardi Gras party for my friends.
4) Begin potty training Cub around his second birthday (or at least exposing him to the idea of it--don't worry I won't rush it [I can see those comments coming already!!]).
5) Take a weekend trip with my hubby.
6) Read Lost Horizon again.
7) Give to someone anonymously.
8) Keep my hair long.
9) Volunteer for a cause I believe in.
10) Take whatever steps necessary to be the best wife and the best mom I can be. This is ambiguous because I think it will change throughout the year!

How about you? Are you into the New Year's Resolution thing??

Have a lovely day.

  1. I normally am not, but this year I do have a few. Lose weight. I wish it was baby weight, but I lost that easily, but I was about 35 lbs over weight to begin with. So far, I've lost around 5 lbs. My main resolution is to live a balanced life. I want to find the best balance between being a Wife, Mom, Daughter, Sister, Co-worker, etc. I tend to burn the candle at all ends and make me and everyone around me miserable! So if I can find balance, I will be very happy.

  2. I am resolved to survive till summer (ie-make it through delivery, maternity leave, coming back to work, two wedding cakes), and then I'll breathe. ;) Oh, and I second the stuff about being a better wife and friend, etc. An ambiguous resolution but good nonetheless. :)

  3. I am resolved to finish these last few months of my job with excellence because right now I feel like coasting my way to May in a haze of "Meh...I'm almost outta here..."!

  4. Ha! One of my resolution is to lose these last 10 pounds of "baby weight" before Levi's first birthday! How funny. I actually lost 5 last week, so here we go! :)

But then I want to go beyond that because I was a little heavier than I wanted to be when I got pregnant. But no set date on when I want to reach that. A healthier lifestyle is always on my list each year. No diets, just portion control and excercise. Diets make me an angry lady.

  5. I set resolutions this year... keep up the habits that are helping me grow in the Lord, eat five fruits and veggies per day (even if I fall short at least I'll be eating with more awareness), stick to my budget, send more snail mail cards and letters to loved ones - I like doing it and who doesn't like to receive a fun note once in a while, and finally take one mini vacation before medical school starts in the fall....

I figure when med school starts I'll have enough big complicated things to do so I made them small and easy! :)

  6. I want to keep my car cleaned out, I know that sounds stupid, but with a little car and a little baby, another on the way - there's bound to be clutter. I HATE that, so I'm determined to be more organized. I even bought some compartment stuff to make this easier. And then the normal - better wife, mama, sister, daughter...I also want to be more organized with paying my bills and keeping up with filing. Very big into organization :-)

  8. (I totally agree with keeping the car clean. I'm AMAZED at how nasty our car can get after just one week!! I have to add it to the weekly chores. I don't know how many sippy cups I've found under the seat ... ew ..!)
