WAKE UP.

Besides the coo of our baby girl or the husky "GOOD MORNING!" from our big boy, my husband and I have vastly different morning alarms on our phones. I'm guessing it is telling of our personalities (or maybe just our attitudes towards mornings).

My alarm is "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" as performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Birds singing. Rainbows. Acoustic. Happy.

My husband's alarm?

Play it. I dare you.

Wait about twenty seconds into the song until it sounds like squirrels on crack running in circles in a swarm of locusts. On the electric guitar. THAT'S the part of the song my husband selected as his alarm.

Then imagine waking up to it at 6:30.

It makes no sense to me, seeing as this is not the kind of music he listens to anyway. But WOW.

He wakes up slowly, blinking, and fumbles for his phone so he can turn it off. Meanwhile, I'm clinging to the ceiling with eyeballs the size of saucers.

So.

What's your morning wake-up call (besides, of course, your kiddos!)?

Have a lovely day!

  1. WOW! You on the ceiling gave me a good laugh! I haven't set my alarm in almost 7 years (except on a "special occasion" - but then I used my phone that is so old school it just beeps).

  2. Wow, I can't imagine waking up to that. I haven't used an alarm in 3 years. My wake up call is little voices over the baby monitor.

  3. Sadly, my child wakes up around 6 each day, which is plenty early for me. So I honestly can't remember the last time I set an alarm clock because he has the job covered! But before he came along, I always liked a nice little vibrating tone...I prefer the gradual wake up!

  4. Ha ha, that's Russell's chosen alarm sound, too! (Yours...not Josh's.) Usually, we just wake up to E saying "Daaaadoooo" over and over. Kinda sweet. :)

  5. I have a really obnoxious alarm clock. I usually wake up 5 minutes before it goes off to keep it from going off. I like your alarm choice much better. That is the most awesome version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
