In Case You Were Wondering ...

There is a huge winter storm making its way to my part of the world, and there's a chance I won't have Internet for a couple of days. I'm typing this and scheduling it to post tomorrow (which, if you are reading this, is today), so it should show up whether I can or not!

Taking a cue from fellow blogger Whitney, I want to open up the floor for you to ask me something. Anything. It isn't that I deem my life as being incredibly interesting, but rather because I wonder about people and I wonder if other people wonder about people. And if you do, here is your chance to ask. While I know that my blog is the product of a very typical "mommy blogger", I'm also a wife and a daughter and a friend and, well, a person. Behind the screen is a girl who just ate a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, who loves her flannel pajamas, and who desperately needs a pedicure. You can ask me anything from my opinions on premillennial eschatology to the kind of mascara I use.

I have no clue if, upon returning, there will be any comments at all, but it's worth a try. If there are no comments, I'll assume I'm pretty transparent and there isn't a lot to wonder about. And, if there are any comments, it will give me something to write about!

And if you are in the path of this storm, stay safe. The airport has all but closed, a major highway just shut down, and the experts are saying to prepare for the worst. I'm going to round up our candles and flashlights right now, and my husband has the generator ready to go.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Hi Katie-- I love your blog! I have been "lurking" for a while now, but thought I would come out to ask a question (or several.) Did you always know you wanted to be a SAHM? If not, what led to the decision? Do you have any tips on how you manage financially on one income? And, what's your favorite activity you do on a regular basis as a SAHM?

  2. Well, since I already asked you about boobs this week, I figure I owe you a reasonably normal question! One of my recent pregnancy debates is how to handle family after the birth. We have a two bedroom house with one bathroom, and I'm pretty sure I've decided that there won't be room in the inn for extra guests in the house in the first couple of post-partum months (air mattresses in the nursery and fighting my in-laws for the potty when I need to change my own diaper are not my idea of a good time). BUT I also know that I will need some help, yet I don't want to put out our family members by asking them for help if it means them paying for a hotel room. Whew! Complicated. All that to say...what did you do about family visiting/helping post-birth, and what would you do if you didn't have room for those folks to stay in your house?

  3. How did you learn photography? Did you take certain classes? Have you always loved it?

    p.s. I love your photos.

  4. Is your MIL as great as she sounds?

  5. I just noticed this so it's the perfect time to ask: why is my blog not on your blog list? I think I know pretty much everything else I need to know about you! :) and I LOVE the question before mine...cracked me up!

  6. If you had to change every physical feature about yourself except for one, which would you hold on to and why? And, vise versa, if you HAD to change one thing about yourself, what would it be? (I tried to think of the weirdest questions that I could...he he!) And Bev, love it!

  7. Well, I'm very intrigued by you just because we're in the same boat - I found out I'm having a girl BTW! Woot! Her name will be Mikayla Marie. And I LOVE posts like this, they're fun!

How do you discipline your son? I'm really struggling with how to discipline Alex, I may have found a way, but I'd like all the input I can get.
Do you like random bloggers like me stopping by your site and reading/leaving comments or does it freak you out? I personally love it if they aren't weird, but some people are friends and family only type people.
How many babies do you want? What's some of your favorite music/food/drink/movie type stuff? Now you don't have to list your absolute favorite and you can list a couple if you'd like, haha - I hate when I'm asked the absolute favorite, that's too hard to answer!!

    Yay for answers!

  8. How much time would you say you spend outside of the house with Cub during the week? Do you have to get out every so often to feel sane? As a stay-at-home mom-to-be, I've been wondering about this.

Also, what are a few (maybe 2 or 3) essential things you'd tell someone who is about to have their first baby? Just things that it would be helpful to remember in that haze of the first few weeks. What do you wish you had known or remembered at that time?

  9. I love reading your blog and as a SAHM I can relate to much of what you say. I have a beautiful 9 1/2 month old daughter and was just wondering how do you find the time to blog each day??
