Different Verse.

I am continually delighted with the differences between my two kids. I think the differences seem more obvious sometimes because one is boy and the other is a girl, but it's safe to say the difference lies in their personalities as well.

One difference I've found myself subconsciously creating are the songs I sing as their lullabies. With Cub, his lullaby was a French lullaby that my Mom used to sing to me. I've mentioned it here before, but it goes something like this:

Dodo, Dodo,

Fermer, fermer, tes beaux yeux,

Dodo, Dodo,

Fermer tes beaux yeux!

(Pardon any incorrect grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. My last French class took place in college in 2003 and my mother last sung this song to me in the early nineties. It's been a while.)

It essentially means, "Night-Night, Night-Night, Close your beautiful eyes".

It's soft and sweet and was perfect for my snuggly, big blue-eyed Cub. It's still perfect for him. He loves to cuddle when he first wakes up in the morning or after naps, and I still sing it to him during those cuddle times.

For Naomi, I've found myself singing "You Are My Sunshine", another song my Mom used to sing to me. It can be soft or it can be bright (kind of like the rays of the sun!), both of which are telling of Naomi's personality. She snuggles while I sing it to her at night and bounces with bright delight when I sing it to her during the day. She really is our sunshine!
