Warning: This Post is Gross.

I'm throwing up. All the time. Morning, mid-day, night. At the house, at church, in the car ... my nausea knows no bounds.

This is something I'm fairly familiar with, as I was violently ill with Cub as well. This is the problem:

I HATE THROWING UP.

I know, you might be asking, Why? Why must you write that? Don't most people hate throwing up?

I'm not sure. I hope so. But I am a violent vomiter and I hate it. When the gag reflex begins, I've got about 2 seconds to find a toilet, trash can, or open window before it all breaks loose. And it is VIOLENT.

(I warned you this was gross. Sorry.)

Last night, for the first time, I actually choked on the remnants of my dinner that were once again making an appearance. I inhaled mid-deluge and couldn't breathe. I slapped the tile with my hands and pounded my chest, trying to cough, and finally I coughed and my body finished telling me that it DID NOT LIKE THAT PIZZA. It was honestly a little scary. Choking usually is.
I purchased several ginger items yesterday, none of which worked, given that I still threw up last night. I'm thirsty all the time but when I drink water I'm basically just BEGGING my stomach to go nuts again. I've been guzzling ginger ale which I handle better, until I lose everything a few hours later.

Oddly enough, I do not have an aversion to all food. Just some food. Like those leftovers I saw in the fridge before we left for lunch on Sunday? All I needed was the thought of them before I was scrambling for a plastic bag as we sped down the highway in the car. Awesome. Good thing my husband was driving.

There is no point to this, really. I'm just informing you about the current happenings in our household. And I'm not even really complaining--I know this too, shall pass. I just hope it passes sooner than later! I go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon and I am going to ask him what he thinks. So, we'll see.

Have a lovely day!

  4. Ask your doctor about the nausea. A friend of mine was violently ill as well and her Dr. gave her medicine to help her to stop vomiting so often. She said it was heaven. ;-)

  5. Cassie threw up through many months of her pregnancy with Wyatt. She stopped eating all dairy products and it helped. She cut out dairy in her second pregnancy as well. The first thing she wanted after her boys were born was a glass of milk. That girl loves milk.

  6. Who knows how I found your blog, but I promise I'm not creepy. :) I am a physician assistant in OKC, and thought I'd give you a little something to talk to your doctor about. Ask your doctor how he/she feels about Zofran in pregnancy? It is an anti-nausea med. It is pregnancy class B, which is the same as Tylenol or Progesterone...or other drugs that are pretty much given to a pregnant woman without much thought...and considered to be safe. If your doc okays Zofran, ask for the "melties" which dissolve on your tongue.

  7. Geez, no fun! I have a ton of Preggie Pop drops that I never made it through if you'd like to try them...? They taste like Jolly Ranchers, and I think they do more to distract you from your gag reflex than anything...but they worked on the drive to work for me. I'd be queasy driving so early in the morning, and I'd pop one in on the road to work. Seemed to help, and you're welcome to them! I've got no advice, but encouragement instead: YOU CAN DO IT!!! And, at least Cubbie helps you shut the lid when you're done puking! ;) Cute boy.

  8. I've got no advice, either. But it seems you're having a good attitude, which can go a long way...hopefully your dr. can give you something for it!

  12. One word:
    ZOFRAN.

They've started giving it to me instead of phenergan for when I have a migraine, and it's amazing!

Talk to your doc about it. Beg for it if you have to. lol!

  13. I agree! Zofran is the only thing that kept me out of the hospital with my 3rd. I just couldn't quit throwing up. It was pure misery without it. I was still pretty nauseated but the meds kept everything down. I could not have functioned without it.
